Salivary adjunct tests for early oral cancer detection restricted to research settings
The ADA's living guideline on early oral cancer detection issued two research-only recommendations, limiting salivary adjunct tests to research settings for patients with or without mucosal abnormalities. The guideline found insufficient evidence for clinical utility of salivary tests in routine screening. Dentists should continue to rely on visual inspection and biopsy for early cancer detection.
