Implant vs tooth‑supported posterior fixed prostheses: 5‑year survival rates

A multicenter retrospective study published in Clinical Oral Implants Research evaluated fixed dental prostheses in the posterior region supported by teeth or implants. Over a 5‑year follow‑up, cumulative survival exceeded 90% for both groups, with implant‑supported crowns showing a slightly higher survival (≈93%) than tooth‑supported crowns (≈87%). The findings suggest comparable long‑term reliability, guiding BDS clinicians in case selection.
