Job overview
The primary purpose of the role is to provide chair side clinical supervision for dental students treating patients in the Carlisle Dental Education Centre.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES (Educational)
When required, the Clinical Supervisor will provide lectures, seminars and tutorials in line with areas of their expertise during the four-year period of the course of study and to participate in the educational assessment processes.
The Clinical Supervisor will participate in peer review and other quality and continuing educational and professional developmental activities.
To participate in the dental student admissions process including face to face interviews.
To work collaboratively and co-operatively with the University, the Dental Education Centres in the Medical & Dental Collaborative and other NHS and partner institutions.
To undertake other relevant duties commensurate with the level of the post as required.
Main duties of the job
The clinical supervisor will be expected to participate in the assessment of student performance related to clinical activity undertaken in the Centre.  They will work collaboratively with the full time Senor Clinical Teachers and the dental staff of the Specialist & Special Care Dental Service to enhance clinical teaching . The Clinical Supervisor will be required to screen patients and also to provide a limited amount of emergency access care.
You will be part of a small team of clinical tutors, clinical supervisors and dental nurses delivering high quality, personalised training and education to a group of UCLan dental students and dental therapy students as they progress through their undergraduate training.
