SDF failure rate higher on crowned teeth: JADA study

A longitudinal study in The Journal of the American Dental Association found that teeth with pre-existing crowns had a significantly higher failure rate after silver diamine fluoride treatment compared to uncrowned teeth. This finding is clinically relevant for BDS dentists using SDF for caries management, indicating that crown margins may compromise SDF efficacy and warrant alternative treatment planning.
